Sillustani is a pre-Inca cemetery located about 34km from Puno. The different Chullpas or funerary towers of Sillustani rise up to 12 meters high and belong to pre-Inca and Inca cultures. These are located in a small peninsula surrounded by the Umayo lake, from where we can appreciate all its natural beauty as well as the architecture and engineering of the time.
In each tower were found remains of noble men, buried with offerings to ensure their passage to another life.
Especially near the funerary tower or chullpa of the lizard, was found the royal trousseau of a nobleman with more than 500 pieces of gold, these pieces are exhibited in the Carlos Dreyer museum in the city of Puno.
